Introducing a series of hands-on workshops to help you build your knowledge and confidence when using technology in the classroom. Using the latest technology and incorporating sound pedagogical techniques and strategies, you will come away from these workshops with practical skills to help make your planning more efficient and teaching more effective.

WS01 – An introduction to technology
This session will help build your confidence when using computers, the Internet and peripherals such as cameras or scanners. We will work with a range of tools, terminology will be explained and strategies for coping with technical problems will be explored.

WS02 – The Internet and EFL teaching
This session will help you to exploit the Internet for resources – websites, text, games, audio and video. Learn how to build a webquest and see how you can create materials using Teachers Pet.

WS03 – Using Skype and other chat tools
This session will show how chat tools – such as MSN Messenger and Skype, can be set-up and used in lessons for communicative writing activities, as well as for making and recording telephone calls.

WS04 – Blogs, Wikis and Web 2.0
This session will look at the range of different web 2.0 tools and how they can help improve not just writing, but reading, listening, and speaking. You will set-up your own class blog and come away with practical ideas for your class.

WS05 – Using authentic video and audio
From downloading YouTube videos, using TV shows – iPlayer, 4OD to making your own movies. Also, how to find and use authentic audio, and use Audacity to create your own podcasts!

WS06 – Making the most of PowerPoint
This session looks at how to build materials and communicative activities with PowerPoint, and how to make the most of these in class with a projector or IWB.

- These workshops are designed for EFL teachers, teacher trainers and directors. All abilities are welcome! Please give an indication of your current ability when booking.
- Places are limited to 8 per course to ensure everyone has practical use of the technology.
- All sessions will take place from 5:30pm to 8:00pm with a fifteen minute break.
- Each workshop is £25 per person.
- School discount packs of 6 places for £120 (1 person per workshop).
