Introducing a series of hands-on workshops to help you build your knowledge and confidence when using technology in the classroom. Using the latest technology and incorporating sound pedagogical techniques and strategies, you will come away from these workshops with practical skills to help make your planning more efficient and teaching more effective.

Monday 27th October – An introduction to technology

This session will help build your confidence when using computers, the Internet and peripherals such as cameras or scanners. We will work with a range of tools, terminology will be explained and strategies for coping with technical problems will be explored.

Monday 3rd November – The Internet and EFL teaching

This session will help you to exploit the Internet for resources – websites, text, games, audio and video. Learn how to build a webquest and see how you can create materials using Teachers Pet.

Monday 10th November – Using synchronous tools

This session will show how chat tools – such as MSN Messenger and Skype, can be set-up and used in lessons for communicative writing activities, as well as for making and recording telephone calls.

Monday 17th November – Blogs, Wikis and Web 2.0

This session will look at the range of different web 2.0 tools and how they can help improve not just writing, but reading, listening, and speaking. You will set-up your own class blog and come away with practical ideas for your class.

Monday 24th November – Using authentic video and audio

From downloading YouTube videos, using TV shows – iPlayer, 4OD to making your own movies. Also, how to find and use authentic audio, and use Audacity to create your own podcasts!

Monday 1st December – Using PowerPoint and a projector/IWB

This session looks at how to build materials and communicative activities with PowerPoint and Google Earth, and how to make the most of a projector or an Interactive White Board.
